Love

What exists in the space between?

Between the stars…

Between protons and electrons…

Between friends…

Between lovers…

There are no words to deeply explain what is true.

There is only Source.

Flowing and flowering.

Precipitating into the 10,000 things.

Hah!  Into the trillions and trillions of things.

Our poor animal bodies and minds.

Buffeted by the winds of love.

Torn asunder and sewn back together again.

Sitting quietly.

Love mends our broken hearts…

Sangha and Mystery

Are you a Seeker?  Are you interested in the Truth of who you really are?

Then you are in the Sangha, the Family of Seekers of Truth.

Sometimes, this can be a rocky road, with painful Dark Nights of the Soul.

Sometimes, filled with Ecstatic Bliss.

Sometimes, feels just like a mundane slog through our everyday existence.

Today we will contemplate three metaphoric exercises to remind ourselves of who we really are:

Again, try the Douglas Harding experiments of pointing at the outside world, and then pointing toward your eyes, looking with an inward gaze.

The second is in the book by Wayne Teasdale, The Mystic Heart:

As a child we may poke holes in a cardboard box and shine a flashlight in that box, within a darkened room, making “stars” that shine all around us.

We are like these points of light, dancing on the ceiling and walls.

If we turn our gaze backward into the Source of the light, we see we are really the bright light of Source.

The third experiment is a more modern version of Plato’s cave:

Imagine an old time movie projector with a strip of film that runs quickly past a bright light Source, projecting a moving picture on a screen or a wall.

What we see in everyday life is these shadows on the wall.  We mistake these shadows for the whole Truth of who we are.

If we turn our gaze around and look into the projector, we see the bright light Source.  That Source is who we really are.

We are the brightest light.  We are the darkest dark.  Truth is always within Paradox.

Yet, we also live our life.

We have roles to play in this projected movie.

That is the Mystery.  How do we play our roles the best we can?

How do we know what should be our next perfect Right Action?

This gazing inward… seeing Source… Being Source.

This allows us access to Truth, to Wisdom.

We shed the comfortable coat of Ego, contemplating what we are in Truth.

Compassion arises for ourselves, and for others,
as if there really were any other.

Then we can don our comfortable overcoat of Ego, and walk in the world.

Wisdom allows our each action to be filled with compassion.

Ultimately, there is no other.

We are all the bright light of Source.  Shining in the world.

When we incorporate this Truth in our Bones.

Only Right Action arises in every movement,
as we walk through this filmstrip of our life.

Thank you…

For shining within the Sangha…

Longing

What is this longing?

This deeply felt desire.

How do we translate this longing?

Desire to be merged with another of our species?

Desire for power, money, material things we think will bring us happiness?

Desire for knowledge, for abilities?

Desire to run with the wild animals?

Desire to be one with the trees, the ocean, the wind?

Longing and desire is not the problem.

Attachment to what we think we want can be the problem.

Attachment as holding desire and longing so tightly where we strangle this “Other.”

Or, we strangle ourselves.

Ultimately, we long to merge with All-That-Is,

and All-That is-Not.

Shedding the ego.

Walking naked into the Cosmos.

Basking in the Light within the Dark.

Passing through the “Dark Nights of the Soul.”

Emerging into…

The Un-Namable…

Holding the object of our longing and desire like a butterfly.

We release having this world be anything other than it is.

And, we become powerful beings, moving the world exactly as it will unfold.

We Co-Create,

as the animated stardust of Source.

Who is going to Work?

That question came up for me recently.

Part of my meditation on feeling deeply into each moment.

I can lose this often.

That connection to Source.

Within the everyday slog.

That’s OK.

We can stop.

We can listen.

We can feel this within deep meditation.

And, we can feel deeply within every moment’s existence.

Even within the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This Truth is always there.

We tend to forget.

Source wants us to forget.

Then Source can pretend we are separate beings.

Because, it is no fun to have dinner alone.

Yet, Source also rejoices in finding Itself.

We can appreciate the Beauty of everyday existence.

Who goes to work?

Who is unhappy going to work?

Source is the only one going to work.

Can Source be unhappy?

Who is unhappy?

Remember, Wei Wu Wei says:

Why are you unhappy?

Because 99.9 per cent of everything you think, and everything you do, is for yourself

– And there isn’t one.

Increasing Complexity of Civilization is a Koan

Another fantastic Sunday group meeting!

Insights and laughter.

Our local sage, Allyn, was speaking about how the increasing complexity of our civilization was leading to confusion and unrest.

Yet, this complexity and confusion might just be what is what is needed for us to transcend and include to the next level of societal evolution.

Aha!

It came to me that this complexity is like a Koan.

The confusion and unrest is just what we need to transcend as a civilization.

Just as the Koan can help shut down the thinking mind of an individual, the confusion of our complex civilization will shut down the “thinking mind” of the whole.

Painful?

Yes!

People will get hurt?

I am sorry to be witness to that.

Is it necessary?

Of course!

What can I do about it?

All the practices outlined to date in this blog are candidates for your personal evolution.

Your personal transcendence is all-important.

And, yet, really, not important at all.

Such is the paradox of reality.

You can be at the lead front of change.

Or, you can be drawn into change kicking and screaming.

Your personal transcendence will contribute to the transcendence of us all as a society and civilization.

Get to it!

May you be safe

            May you be healthy

                        May you be happy

                                    May you live with ease
