Integral: A New Religion

Well, I decided to start a new religion.

Actually, you all started it a long while ago.

I’m just going to propose names and symbols.

I don’t own this new religion, it has always belonged to everyone.

This whole blog has been devoted to the outline of this new religion, I just didn’t know it at the time.

I’ve already outlined the 3 Commandments, perhaps, ad nauseam, I might add...

Now we give it a name in honor of Ken Wilber’s Integral AQAL Model.

All Quadrants, All Levels  =  Integral!

We will be called Integralists, or Thirdtierians.

The third tier of evolution is transpersonal, where we start to accept everything, just as it is.

Integralism.

I know what you are thinking, not another f—king “ism!”

Now someone will try to make rules and regulations and try to make people pay money for all sorts of sh-t.

Yeah, that may happen.

You have to make sure it doesn’t.  Or, you can start selling all sorts of sh-t.

I don’t care.

That is the whole point here.

Make it what you want.  You have the power.  Not me.  Not anyone else.

You might already call yourself Atheist, Agnostic, Secularist, Humanist, or a Secular Humanist.

And, you can also be part of any organized religion, or disorganized religion…

Cool!

The core of this religion is we celebrate diversity, we love everything in all its forms.

Just don’t hurt anyone.

Our central theme is Love.

Love morphs into Kindness, Gratitude, Forgiveness.

Read the 3 commandments!

Next The Symbol…

Male and Female

My wife and I are reading some interesting stuff.

One book is musing about the last several thousand years of the male dominance of society.   Where did we lose the appreciation of feminine energy?

The other book documents the rise of the appreciation of feminine energy, and the increasing lack of appreciation of male energy.

Fundamentalism seems to be associated with the suppression of the feminine energy.

The backlash is the feministic distain of male energy.   Sometimes associated with the “Green Meme.”

My overall conclusion is we can fall into a lack of appreciation of all the myriad aspects of Source manifesting in the world.

There is a reason that Source precipitates into the “10,000 things.”

Source wants to appreciate itself.

Source hides away.

Then we might make the mistake of believing that there is no Source.

Sometimes we make the opposite mistake of getting lost in trying to remain in a non-dual state.

Both can be mistakes.

Source gives us an opportunity to find “It.”  Find the Oneness.  Truth.

That is one gift.

The other gift is to be embodied.  To be one of the 10,000 things.

The gift of being alive.

How do you know when you have made an error?

You are unhappy!

You may try to be always in a non-dual state, not many can stay there.

And, perhaps, if you have experienced the non-dual state, you might want to come back and be the bodhisattva.

Then you can walk in the world, helping others to see what is true and real.

Perhaps you may disbelieve there is anything other that what is before your eyes.

If you are unhappy, you are likely not seeing clearly.

I don’t mean the temporary unhappiness of disappointment.

Clouds come.  Clouds go.

I mean a chronic unhappiness.

That might be your signal that further work needs to be done.

Maybe you have suffered greatly, and your combination of genetics and environment resulted in chronic unhappiness.

Maybe you need long-term psychotherapy, maybe you need chronic medication.

Perhaps, that is what you need in this lifetime.

Everything is welcome.

Celebrate every form of being.  Your own being and others.

We are getting closer to wider acceptance of all that is with every 1,000 years.

I take the 1,000-year view…

Think about the recent acceptance of homosexuality.

Wow!  Fast changes.

We are moving toward accepting everyone, just as they are.

This doesn’t mean we don’t recognize evil.

Some individuals want to harm others.  They need to be kept safely away.

We still have a long, long, way to go…

Everyone must find their own path of growth.

My personal practice involves:

Body - trying to be careful of diet, and getting enough exercise.

Mind - I love to learn.  Multiple hobbies.  Cognitive stimulation with reading.  I’ve done emotional work and psychotherapy.

Spirit - sitting meditation, entering into non-dual awareness, shamanic journeying, other various powerful methods :-D…

Repeat after me:

I will awaken…

I must awaken…

I am already awake…

When we do our own work, we might appreciate the wider manifestations of Source.

We need the complete range of All-That-Is, and All-That-Is-Not.

We need the female and the male.   Yin and Yang.

Not opposites.  Reflections of each other.

One cannot exist without the other…

Each of us carries both within.

If you are male, you carry the anima, that “perfect” female within you…

If you are female, you carry the animus, that “perfect” male within you…

If you project that “perfect opposite” on your partner, or all of the members of the opposite gender, you cannot see clearly…

Seeing clearly, there is only Source…

Seeing clearly, there is the beauty of the 10,000 things…

You are everything, and you are nothing…

Rejoice.

Let go of having the world be any certain way.

Let the world be just as it is…

And yet do the work to improve the world any way that you can…

Kindness is the only way to move in this world.

Remember the 3 Commandments, in strict order:

1 – There is only One Source.

2 – Love everything.

3 – Have fun.

The Only Game In Town

Hide and Seek…

Source hides…

Source seeks…

Two parts of the One Game.

Source hides so it can appreciate itself.

Source likes to have someone to converse with at dinner.

Source hid within you, so it can appreciate itself as the sunset.

Source loves to fall in love with Itself.

Source hides.

So, why are we all driven to seek?

We have our hobbies, our professions, our accumulations of “stuff,” and our addictions…

All are substitutions for seeking what we are…

Source…

Source also likes to find itself.

Surprise!

There I am!

So, if we see behind the hobbies, our professions, our shopping, our addictions…

Perhaps we have glimpsed Source.

All-That-Is, and All-That-Is-Not.

Maybe someone alerted us to The Witness…

Maybe we read about this somewhere.

All you have to do is drop everything that gets in the way of resting in The Witness.

So simple!

Yeah, right!

But, maybe we take up a practice.

Meditation, Yoga, Qi Gong…

Maybe we develop concentration.  Change our diet.  Stop alcohol…

Maybe we took an entheogen…

Maybe we sought psychological help to see through our neuroses…

We caught a glimpse of The Truth…

We saw through The Game,

even for a moment…

We rested in the natural state of mind.

Why is it so hard to drop everything that gets in the way of resting in this natural state of mind?

Source likes to hide.

Source likes to seek.

Source is The Witness.

Source is also the seeker.

Source is also the mind that gets in the way of seeing clearly.

Source is the ego that is fearful of dying.

When you see what you are.

You are Everything that is looking at Itself.

You are no longer “you.”

That is painful…

“you” feel you are dying…

This self you have constructed, this ego, doesn’t really die.

This ego will pop right back together.

This ego is the natural tendencies of this unique mind-body,

this unique embodiment of Source.

You can wear it as a comfortable overcoat.

But you will never be the same.

Once you have opened the door to perception…

You can never go back…

You have seen The Truth…

“you” saw through The Game…

It is the only game in town.

“Enlightenment is when you no longer care to establish any particular meaning to what is true and real.”

That statement came up for me a few months ago.

I kept it in my phone.

Still not sure whether it is a valid statement.

So, I put it out there for you to savor.

Yesterday, was filled with laughter.

Spent time with someone who saw Ultimate Reality.

The Oneness.

All-That-Is, and All-That-Is-Not.

What else can you do but laugh!

This person saw through the veil of “The Game.”

Jim was “Jiming.”

Earl was was “Earling.”

Rita was “Ritaing.”

The couch was couching, the chair was chairing, the rug was rugging...

We were just One Thing, talking to itself...

Being with Itself…

You can’t understand this with the cognitive mind.

It is like telling someone who is congenitally blind about color.

It is like trying to explain the experience of an orgasm, to someone who has never had one.

You might dismiss this as a true experience.

That is OK…

You may be hungering for this experience…

That is OK too.

Peruse this blog, lots of ideas to practice.

Ultimately, you must let go of everything to “get there.”

Drop all the practice, drop any techniques…

That is the hardest part.

Every movement of the mind, takes you further away.

You can only relax into Ultimate Reality.

There really is no where to go…

You can’t “get there.”

You are there already.

The mind is paying the game.

It is the only game in town.

Whatever you are Do-ing is playing the game.

You can only see though the game, when you are Be-ing.

Love 1.0, Love 2.0, Love 3.0

Awoke about 1 AM in a nightmare.

First, I was at a lecture with a Power Point show of a dark place with red and black features maybe fire and smoke, dark surroundings.

The beings there could not see well, and there was violence all around.

Then I was stuck in this nightmarish place.

I woke a little short of breath.

I decided to go upstairs to meditate formally on the cushion.

First, I saw this violent place as my intestines.

The bacteria, mostly blind, were fighting for existence.

Then, I saw this place as a metaphor for our daily lives.

We cannot see what is true and real.

We often do violence upon each other.

I then did a practice of diving down into the depths of despair.

This I envision this as a dark pit.

Sometimes, living and witnessing the darkness in the world can seem like a bottomless pit.

In this practice, when I hit the very bottom, I just sit there.

Then…

Something shifts.

A small light appears.

The light grows.

I recognize the light as the gift of life.

The light dispels the darkness.

This is Love 1.0.

Love 1.0 is this gift of individual life.

A precious, sacred, gift.

Then, arose the feeling of compassion and connection to others.

Barbara Fredrickson writes about this in her book, “Love 2.0,” this feeling of connection with another.

I am also reading Ram Dass’s Paths to G-d, and Adyashati’s ,“The Way of Liberation.”

They both write about the various paths of yoga and practices, where the barrier between self and other disappears.

That is Love 3.0.

No little self is left,

only The One Self…

Hmmmm….

What a wonderful gift was contained in this nightmare!

Wishing you all Love 1.0, Love 2.0, and Love 3.0….
